People think of Pride as just a celebration these days. But just in the last week Trey Peters was gunned down while homophobic slurs were hurled at him here in Atlanta. LGBTQ+ people are killed every day in our country for simply existing. Pride started as a riot fighting against the violence that faced our community 50 years ago, and it is a fight we are still fighting. Hatred is loud and ugly and pervasive. Love must be even more visible and active to fight it. Rest in Power Trey Peters.
