TEEN SOCIAL EVENT PFLAG JOHNS CREEK invites area LGBTQ teens and their teen friends/allies to our Teen Social Event! WHEN: Saturday, November 2 (1st Saturday of Each Month) 7:30 – 10 PM WHERE: Alpharetta Presbyterian Church 180 Academy Street Alpharetta, GA 30009 (Downtown Alpharetta) Enter through the main entrance. A volunteer will greet you. Hang out! Have fun! BE YOURSELF! All in a safe & affirming space. We’ll play some cool games and do some fun activities! Wear comfy clothes because we’re going to be active! Food and drinks provided! 8th grade and up; minimum age = 13. $5 donation per person requested at the door. Adult chaperones will be with the teens at all times. PARENTS: No curb drop-off! Check-in is required at the door for everyone (teens and adults). Teens must be checked in by a parent/guardian. We will have a panel of speakers to discuss this subject from several perspectives: 1. Mick Rehrig, LCSW, counselor specializing in LGBTQ+ people 2. Jeannie Senter, advocate for safe schools 3. Kris Janovitz, transitional coach, mom of transgender daughter 4. A mom of a transgender son — PLEASE NOTE: Our regular scheduled meetings will meet as usual during the education event for those who need support or wish not to attend the education event. TWEENS (Room 323) – A special safe space for LGBTQ+ tweens (4th-7th grade; ages 9-13) to socialize with other tweens. This is NOT a facilitated support group but instead a social group with games, art, and other fun for tweens to enjoy all while being themselves. The Tween Social Group runs concurrent with the older Teen and Adult Support Groups. A parent must attend an Adult Support Group Meeting or remain in the 3rd floor main hallway.
