GREAT NEWS! New Spanish-language publications now available The wait is over! After the success of Nuestros Seres Queridos Trans, our culturally inclusive Spanish-language translation of our Our Trans Loved Ones, we’re excited to announce that, thanks to the generosity of our friends at Subaru, we’ve released not one but THREE new publications. We are truly excited to provide these materials to our members and supporters, recognizing, of course, that translated materials are only one piece of the puzzle to support our chapters in becoming more diverse, more inclusive, more culturally humble…and more powerful as a network across the country. Visit pflag.org/publications to download your free copies; hard copies will be available for order at pflag.org/shop within the week. And thank you again to our friends at Subaru for their commitment to PFLAG’s vision of a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Attention Parents of Transgender Youth: Georgia State Representative Ginny Ehrhart, R-Powder Springs, has announced she will introduce legislation that would make it a felony to provide a transgender child (under 18) the medical care they need to transition. This would include surgery and medications, including hormone therapy or puberty blocking therapy. She plans to introduce her “Vulnerable Child Protection Act,” in the Georgia General Assembly. Her press release specified that this was about children who are being abused by adults. This proposal was littered with misinformation and false claims. Please see our response http://bit.ly/2QirqmK. In an effort to educate legislators, PFLAG Johns Creek is working diligently with Georgia Equality and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Both of these fine organizations have vast experience in the political process in Georgia. Here is how we can best help them help our youth: We need parents of transgender youth to write moving stories of their experience. These do not need to be long, but should be heartfelt. These stories will then be put together to form a real life view for law makers in how this proposal would affect families. You do not need to quote talking points, nor do you have to disclose personal information such as your name. We are simply wanting real people who can articulate their journey. Please email all testimonials to: pflagjohnscreek@gmail.com. We will forward them on. Again, you may be undisclosed if you wish and pictures are not necessary. For an example of a testimony and additional information, visit http://bit.ly/2X9ryGu and view our recent email blast about this request. Thank you for your help! PFLAG is still working diligently to pass the Equality Act in the Senate! We need the Equality Act, a federal bill that will add LGBTQ+ people to existing civil rights laws and will strengthen protections for all people. The Equality Act would provide clear, consistent protections nationwide in employment, housing, credit, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and jury service. Ready to take action? Sign up now to personally endorse the Equality Act: http://bit.ly/2WFvr5v.
