Make plans to join our SPECIAL EDUCATION EVENT: Navigating Transgender Legal Issues GUEST SPEAKER: Taylor Brown Tyron Garner Memorial Fellow LAMBDA LEGAL WHEN: Tuesday, February 19 7 – 8:30 PM WHERE: Johns Creek United Methodist Church 11180 Medlock Bridge Road Johns Creek, GA 30097 (3rd Floor – Dining Hall) Taylor will be discussing ways parents of transgender children can navigate complex legal issues, such as name changes, ID document changes, restroom access, school rights, and healthcare. She will provide us with clear, actionable guidance to ensure our kids and ourselves are safe and secure. PLEASE NOTE: Our regular scheduled meetings will meet as usual during the education event for those who need support or wish not to attend the education event. • TWEENS (Room 313) • TEENS (Rooms 322 and 323) • ADULTS (Rooms 315 and 320) — Taylor Brown is the Tyron Garner Memorial Law Fellow at the Southern Regional Office of Lambda Legal in Atlanta, GA. Taylor pursues litigation, policy advocacy, and public education addressing inequities in policy and the law for African-American LGBTQ people and African-American PLWH. She passed the February 2018 New York Bar Exam and is pending admission in New York. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Trans Bar Association.

She spearheaded the Stonewall uprising in 1969 and along with Sylvia Rivera, she later established the Street Transvestite (now Transgender) Action Revolutionaries (STAR), a group committed to helping homeless transgender youth in New York City. She was tragically murdered in 1992 at the age of 46. (Biography.com) The everlasting impact of the Stonewall riots can be seen at modern Pride festivals across the world, where LGBT+ people of all races are united in their self expression and pride – the freedom we have is because of people like Marsha’s struggle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We celebrate her life and legacy 🙌🏿 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy Black History Month! 💞 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
