Pairing chamber choir and rich orchestrations with compelling multimedia visuals, “Considering Matthew Shepard” is a brilliant tribute featuring jazz, country and classical solos; poetic texts; and passages from Shepard’s own personal journal. This special event honors the 20th anniversary of Shepard’s tragic death, an act that shocked the world and led to the creation of The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act. Originally developed for and performed by the renowned chamber ensemble, Conspirare, “Considering Matthew Shepard” has toured to select cities across the United States; however, Coro Vocati’s performance marks the work’s professional premiere in Georgia.
