Having been a long time member and supporter of numerous metro Atlanta PFLAG chapters including serving on the board of PFLAG Atlanta many years ago, it is no surprise that I was drawn to attend the then new Sandy Springs chapter which had in-person meetings less than 2 miles from my home. After just a couple of meetings, I was asked to train to be a facilitator for the teen support groups at both Sandy Springs and Johns Creek. I am now one of the longest serving facilitators for the teens and the adult LGBTQ+ groups. I feel that I get so much more out of facilitating than I give back to my teens, and that tells me I am in the right place!
